Debbe Daley: Interior Design School

One of the cornerstones of my career has been the education of the next generation of award-winning interior designers. From the beginning, I had a deep desire to succeed. My career started as a self-taught designer creating and making innovative window treatments, and as a self-made single mom, I started a business to put my daughter through college. It quickly became successful thanks to hard work and the talent I developed.

After over 30 years in the interior design industry, I have become universally recognized as a top educator in the field of interior design.

In the college-level beginning design course I teach, students learn the fine points of design theory, fabrics, furniture, rugs, paint color, and accessorizing. My advanced college class also includes sections on getting started in business, forming an LLC, and marketing your new business.

Along with teaching at the college level, I also offer private design classes.

Students Enjoy A Personalized Learning Experience

I teach private classes at my design studio, located in downtown Lowell, Massachusetts. Courses are designed specifically for people who want to break into the industry. They offer students a boutique learning experience.

Classes are limited to four students per session. Like my college classes, private design classes start with interior design basics, including design theory, fabrics and furniture, rugs, paint color, and accessorizing.

Private classes offer a unique opportunity for students to get hands-on experience by visiting actual clients' homes to practice what they have learned. Students will also go on group "field trips," for example, to vendor showrooms, learn how to work on a complete kitchen remodel, visit a countertop fabricator to learn about the process, and on the last day, take a trip to the Boston Design Center for a private behind the scenes tour and meet the showrooms.

Classes Include:

  • Product Awareness – Learn how to choose the best products to fit your client's budget and style.

  • Furniture placement – Learn the art of furniture placement and how to create interior design floor plans.

  • Getting started in the business– Learn the steps to finding clients and building your interior design business.

  • Marketing your business – How to use digital marketing tools to promote your design firm.

Students who complete the course receive a Certificate in Interior Design and will leave knowing how to navigate all the tools and resources needed to build a successful interior design business and career.

You will leave this course with all the knowledge you need to get into your client's home and create an interior design your client will love!

Ongoing Design Education

My company, Debbe Daley Designs, periodically hires former students for real-world participation in design projects as a form of continuing education. These are paid positions and can include creating furniture placement floor plans, sourcing materials, and more.
