As a Luxury Experience Stay Property Clementine Stands Out

Choosing a Location, Investing, and Creating a Low Maintenance Design That Exemplifies a Luxury Experience Stay

When we chose this property, we had a vision of creating a destination that was an escape retreat to enjoy downtime with guests, family, friends, and on our own. A luxury experience stay was top of mind, but so was durability when planning the development of the property we call The Clementine House.

Luxury is defined in many ways and means many things to different people. For us, luxury means, in large part, great comfort. Comfortable luxury products that stand the test of time and are durable enough without worrying about constant maintenance and repair were the mission without giving up comfort. The interior of the cabin needed much work, taking it from a three-season rental to transforming it into a year-round quiet luxury retreat.

From the beginning, our vision was crafting a memorable, one-of-a-kind luxury experience stay for all visitors who come to The Clementine House. To attain this meant selecting fixtures, appliances, and materials that matched our vision without jeopardizing the original look and feel of this 1918 post and beam.

Luxurious and Durable Enough For Renting

Living Area Flat Lay

We never compromised on our vision of luxury in exchange for the practical necessities of a rental during the three years it took to complete this interior design and restoration/renovation project. For example, we sourced handmade and hand-painted custom kitchen cabinets that, if scratched or marred, would be easy to light sand and paint, but also because they are a beautiful addition to the home. A unique hand-hammered copper coffered ceiling in the kitchen added character to the now open floor plan, and a custom copper range hood with a commercial vent system for those gourmet meals crafted on the Lacanche French range. All of the items are undoubtedly exquisite but also durable and built to stand the test of time.

As part of the experience of staying at this home, we will be offering cooking classes in the gourmet kitchen. The commercial 230 lb Lacanche range and under-counter refrigerator drawers provide the luxury of grabbing food and ingredients quickly while allowing additional soapstone counter space to spread out and create culinary masterpieces. Having cubed ice for beverages readily available in the under-counter ice maker is just one amenity that makes the Clementine special in the kitchen. The coffee station features easy open access for the morning cup of Joe. The open floor plan on the first floor, carefully curated with the right amount of furniture in the design aesthetic of a country mountain home, exemplifies quiet luxury. An office nook with a writing desk is also conveniently tucked away for easy access if needed.

When discussing fixtures and adding luxury without being in your face, one of my favorite appliances is the all-in-one washer/dryer that is quiet, compact, and does the job. The luxury of loading a wash and knowing that you don't have to wait around to put a wet load into the dryer is convenient. This allows your daily plans to happen without waiting for the wash to finish and load the dryer.

Each bathroom has fine details of hand-hammered copper sinks and radiant heat stone floors for that added warmth under your feet when stepping out of the shower. The large hand-hammered copper soaking tub is a fantastic place to relax and enjoy a good book with an added rain shower and mountain views from every window.

Knowing how to add texture, color, finishes, and products that make this place luxurious draws you into a time and place, an escape you will never want to leave.

Location Location Location!

View of Mount Chocorua

When choosing Sandwich, NH, we wanted a location close to the city or our primary residence. Just two hours from Boston and a little over an hour from the New Hampshire and Maine Seacoast, Sandwich is located in the White Mountain National Forest with easy access to major highways, ski areas, lakes, and ponds. With ice fishing derby on Lake Winnipesaukee and the Hockey Tournament in the winter, boating all summer, and skiing in the winter, Sandwich is the perfect destination for creating a luxury experience stay.

Exploring the nearby hidden gems the town of Sandwich, New Hampshire, offers is part of the experience that will make one fall in love with this special place. The easy way locals engage in conversation with guests at the Foothills café or The Corner House or attending the Sandwich Fair at the Fairgrounds in the fall with the colorful mountain foliage is a return to how things used to be. Local tractor pulls, farm animal competitions, band stands, and merriment make his town a sought-after destination.

Crafting unique offerings that set Clementine apart is what makes this house special. Unique offerings can be made right on the property's grounds, falling in love with the lay of the land and wanting to retreat to an area where no one knows you. When taking long walks on winding country roads, passers-by in their cars wave to you regardless of whether they know you. This property's laidback old-time feel is like a scene from The Waltons but with high-end amenities.

The Outdoor Space Contributes to This Luxury Experience Stay Property

With a soaking pool built into the property's natural ledge landscape and enhancing the natural vernal pool, you will take advantage of viewing Mount Chocora from all sides, with plans for an observation deck from the property's guest tree house.

One would soon be transformed into an outdoor enthusiast with Sandwich's many hiking trails and one so close to the property, which winds through the woods and streams and spills out onto Bear Camp Pond.

At night, building a fire on the front or back patio to toast marshmallows and participating in campfire songs will bring a family together while appreciating the clear view of the sky's constellations.

This place is magical and offers anyone seeking a comfortable country house stay with luxury amenities and experiences to indulge in.

With plans to take the wrap-around porch and turn it into an extended veranda where glass windows will crank out to allow for a fully open porch area in warmer weather, this is another unique space for relaxing, entertaining, dining, and creating special memories.

We Thought Of Everything a Guest Would Want

The large field landscape plan includes pea stone walking paths and benches where people can stop and take in the mountain views, butterfly garden, and possible summertime naps. Being able to pick wildflowers from the grounds will add a creative, charming feel to the guest rooms. You can stroll down to the barn and participate in a musical retreat with family and friends, where instruments and private music lessons will be available for everyone to enjoy. Bringing out your creative side by indulging in furniture painting classes, book discussions, and participating in tag sales are just a few of the offerings from the barn. The property's iconic vintage vehicle will offer transportation with excursions to antique shops, local town activities, farms, the local winery, and secret hide-away swimming holes.
